"Mister Charles Darwin had the gall to ask"

As time passes and I become older, wrinklier and more incontinent - I appear to be spending what regrettable time remains becoming more cynical and bitter towards a world that promises so much, yet delivers sweet fuck all.

For instance, to the right of the pc where near I sit is the upvc window. When the blind is adjusted to just the wrong angle, a cursory glance outside bears witness to the unfortunately overlooked neighbours garden. That is to say 'unfortunate' for me as she occasionaly wears very little in the summer months - yet sports a face that only the mother of mr kipling could occasionally endure.

Within 'butch's' garden resides a cherry tree. The cherry tree at this time of year displays an arthurian reddy-pink foliage that blows majestically (albeit lazely) in the slightest breeze. The lightly perfumed scent adds to natures success with an understated aroma that makes one almost optimistic. Enthusiatic? Perhaps not that.

In the winter months however, the very same tree is baron. arid. Where once appeared vitality and beuty - the darkened bark appears knarled and withered with the canopy a minimalistic show home for post modern squatters.

Ultimately, I suppose its a subjective quandry. Aesthetic pleasure undoubtedly depends on personal preference with an element of cultural hegemony thrown in. To look upon that semi-mature tree thing at varying times of year creates different emotions. Occasionally hope and expectancy. Other times it mirrors despair and futility.

Reading the "Very Ugly New Madeline Suspect" headline made me reflect on this.

According to artistic impressions following comments of a newby witness, there was a sinister looking man watching the apartment prior to the alleged abduction. Illustrations - Im sure -vary, but according to proffesional characature specialists (hopefully more sober than maddies parents)- the man may indeed look like one plug-ugly fucker.

Very few details have been released about the witness and why it has taken them so long to approach the porteguese authorities.

As good fortune would have it - I can enlighten them. As those familiar with the story of eugenics will elaborate, there has long since been a historical trend and government preference to air on the side of mass genocide towards those considered aesthetically lacking. "A life worthy of life" has long since been associated with attractiveness . i.e those with a paggered boat race are generally considered criminally inept, thick as pig shit, unfit and potentially a patron of job center plus when and if their failing health allows them to reach workable age.

Equally, those considered phyically imparied or percived as somehow different have always been considered lacking or unable. At the risk of sounding like a shit text book two legs good, one leg bad. 3 Legs - lucky fucker. Comedy gold.

Consequently, the charles murrays and governments the world over still attempt to covertly link ugliness with evil, crime and all the problems you can think about.

I mean look at crime watch. How come you never see an artists impression portraying an armed robber as attractive, sat upon his white stead, smiling, laughing and kissing his grandmother fondly yet appropriately.

I had a point here and its completely gone. Anywho - if ever their was a case to maintain a dna database of all those ever 'suspected' of crime (be it crimes against humanity or selling out of date oranges) and have any physical deformity (even a dimple on their arse) then its now.

God bless this world.
